RENOWNED FERTILITY SPECIALIST "DR. LAWRENCE WERLIN"
RECOGNIZED AS LEADING INFERTILITY DOCTOR
Fertility Trends Make Headline News
Few subjects are as timely for women as fertility and reproductive
medicine. Best-selling books, national news and major magazines have been investigating
the fertility time clock, analyzing the reality of older women giving birth
to healthy babies and debating when its realistic that a woman has reached the
end of her child bearing years.
While great advances have taken place in reproductive medicine
and fertility, up until now most couples rolled the dice hoping procedures such
as In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) would result in a baby. A new study, conducted
by Dr. Lawrence Werlin, takes the guessing game out of the process and gives
women answers they have been hoping for that will increase their chances for
pregnancy success.
Studies Give High-Risk Women and Women 38 Years and Older
Answers for Increasing Pregnancy Success
Dr. Werlin, a leading fertility specialist, recently pioneered
two studies to assess the effects of Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD),
the screening of chromosomes and genes of an embryo that allows couples to test
for defects and abnormalities.
The first study regarding IVF failure in women 38 years and older
was presented last month at a major conference. The second multi -centered study,
which is investigating the effects of PGD for women in three high-risk categories:
recurrent pregnancy loss, advanced maternal age and women with failed IVF cycles.
As the principal investigator, Dr. Werlin is expected to present his findings
internationally in October, at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine's
(ASRM) annual symposium
Findings from both studies offer hope and promise in a world
of uncertainty giving women answers that will increase their knowledge and chances
for pregnancy success.
