World-Renowned PGD Researcher Educates Physicians &
Healthcare Professionals About Preventing Birth Defects & Infant Mortality

WHAT: World-renowned fertility
expert and leader in reproductive medicine Dr. Lawrence Werlin will be the
featured speaker at the 5th Annual March of Dimes Conference. This year’s
theme, “Preventing Birth Defects & Infant Mortality
— Prematurity: Minimizing Risk & Maximizing Outcome,”
will educate health care providers on the most common causes of perinatal
mortality and birth defects.
Werlin’s presentation, “Artificial
Reproduction Therapy: Risk of Birth Defects,” will explore new developments
in reproductive medicine that will aid healthcare providers in the prevention
and early detection of birth defects including the use of preimplantation
genetic diagnosis (PGD).

Perinatal Network have partnered to focus on these critical issues at this
year’s conference due to the increasing problem of premature births
in the United States, and the impact this trend is having on the overall health
of children.

WHO: Dr. Werlin is the principal
investigator and a world-renowned leader in the uses and study of PGD, and
the co-founder of GENESIS Network for Reproductive Health http://www.genesisivf.com.
For his expertise, Werlin speaks globally as a noted authority, and was recently
invited to participate as an expert consultant at the European Society of
Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) conference in Berlin, Germany.
PGD is gaining national and international attention
for what it offers. PGD screens and tests for abnormal chromosomes in the
beginning stages of in-vitro fertilization, offering valuable information
early on for prospective parents about success rates and likelihood for passing
on genetic diseases.
