DR. LAWRENCE WERLIN NAMED AMONG “Orange County’s Physicians of Excellence” Local Fertility Specialist Honored by Peers in the Specialty of Reproductive Endocrinology
IRVINE, Calif., (January 10, 2007) – Lawrence B. Werlin of Coastal Fertility Medical Center was recently named one of “Orange County’s Physicians of Excellence” in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. The prestigious annual award, presented by The Orange County Medical Association and Orange Coast Magazine, honors top physicians in their fields as determined by a comprehensive evaluation by peer physicians and esteemed members of the medical community.
Orange County “Physicians of Excellence” are honored for their leadership, involvement in teaching, clinical research and special skills along with volunteer service. Werlin was the only reproductive endocrinologist selected out of approximately 23 of his peers. But, this isn’t the first time the “Werl” has received this type of honor. Werlin has become a mainstay of the “Best Doctors” award list, which he was named to consecutively since 1996.
Werlin garnered national acclaim for his role as the principal investigator and leading researcher in the GENESIS Network’s for Reproductive Health’s http://www.genesisivf.com, breakthrough fertility study. The GENESIS study is the first prospective, randomized study to analyze the effects of Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) for women involved in high-risk pregnancies. The findings, which offer new data for increasing pregnancy success for women of advanced maternal age, were published in the prestigious Fertility & Sterility medical journal.
